Under the PBL approach, students not only study theoretical concepts but also:

• Receive project-based assignments in the form of derivatives investment projects

• Are guided in building, managing, and monitoring derivatives portfolios

• Conduct simulated trading on demo accounts with assigned virtual capital

• Complete a derivatives portfolio report as a final course output, closely aligned with real market requirements

Across the 10-session course, students participated in three experiential sessions with industry partners, working directly with leading professionals:

Mr. Trần Sơn Tùng, Chief Executive Officer, Southeast Asia Commodity Trading Joint Stock Company, shared hands-on market experience and provided guidance on risk hedging strategies using commodity derivatives.

Session 2 – December 4, 2025
Company visit to VPS Securities Joint Stock Company
Mr. Uông Văn Quang, Senior Derivatives Advisory Specialist, guided students in trading VN30 futures on demo accounts, linking theoretical lessons with real-time market movements.

Session 3 – December 8, 2025
Company visit to the Vietnam Mercantile Exchange (MXV)
Ms. Đoàn Thị Giang, Trading Management Specialist, provided instruction on trading commodity derivatives using the CQG platform.

The PBL activities received strong engagement from graduate students and close support from the Faculty leadership, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Việt Dũng, Dean of the Faculty, together with the lecturers in charge of the program.

The integration of PBL into graduate-level teaching contributes significantly to enhancing training quality, strengthening university–industry linkages, and developing students’ professional competencies, in line with the Faculty of Finance and Banking’s practice-oriented educational strategy.

The close collaboration among the university, enterprises, and learners has delivered encouraging initial outcomes and opens promising prospects for expanding the PBL model to other specialized courses in the future.

Guided by the theme “Green and Books,” the FBF Green Corner was built from simple actions and small habits cultivated by members of the Faculty Trade Union. Step by step, these efforts transformed the Faculty office into a fresh, tidy, and nature-inspired space—where staff, lecturers, and students can truly experience the essence of green living within their daily work environment.

Through this initiative, FTU’s message of “Small Actions – Big Meaning” continues to be spread more powerfully than ever. The Faculty Trade Union hopes to further inspire and encourage a green lifestyle across all areas of FTU, contributing to a cleaner, more beautiful, and sustainably developed university.

In her keynote address, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phạm Thu Hương emphasized FTU’s strategic vision to advance into the group of leading universities in Asia, grounded in high-quality student intake, strong faculty capacity, and effective implementation of resolutions on scientific research, international cooperation, and university–industry linkages.

At the conference, the FTU Trade Union presented commendations to outstanding collectives and individuals, while also honoring units with notable achievements in the “Green Corner – Green University” movement—an initiative that promotes the spirit of green living, learning, and working across the University.

The Faculty of Finance and Banking proudly received the following recognitions:

• A Certificate of Merit from the FTU Trade Union for excellent Trade Union activities

• Second Prize in the “Green Corner – Green University” movement, contributing to the shared goal of building an FTU that is “Green and Happy”

The training conference was a great success, reinforcing solidarity, responsibility, and collaboration among members of the Party Cell Committee and the Trade Union of the Faculty of Finance and Banking. It also serves as a strong foundation for the Faculty Trade Union to continue contributing actively to FTU’s rapid and sustainable development in the coming period.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to:

• Attend two professional sessions: Personal Investment Portfolio Development and Fundamentals of Equity Research Report Writing

The event featured vibrant exchanges as students actively sought guidance on stock analysis methods, professional skill development, and industry prospects. VPS experts provided open and insightful discussions, helping students better understand industry expectations and opportunities.

Beyond technical exposure, the program enabled students to cultivate professional demeanor, expand corporate connections, and gain valuable preparation for entering the labor market with confidence.

The excursion concluded with students acquiring meaningful knowledge and real-world perspectives on a high-potential career field in Vietnam. The Faculty of Finance and Banking believes this experience will serve as an important foundation for students to pursue their passion and future professional development.

In the subsequent sharing session, FHNW representatives Teresa Freiburghaus and Charlotte Hofstetter presented an overview of the FTU–FHNW international transfer pathway and introduced Switzerland’s rich culture and education environment. From academic structure and practical learning opportunities to research prospects and cultural experiences, every element opened a new door for students — a gateway to a wider world where knowledge and experience intersect.

As the roadshow concluded, each student likely left with their own reflections: excitement, clearer orientation, or a growing sense of readiness for the vibrant learning journey ahead. The Faculty of Finance and Banking extends sincere appreciation to all lecturers, FHNW representatives, parents, and especially the K64 students for making this roadshow truly meaningful and memorable.

In his welcome address, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Việt Dũng encouraged students to see their four years ahead not only as a period of academic study but also as a journey of self-exploration, resilience, and personal development. Following this, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Trần Trung Dũng introduced the Faculty’s history and academic environment, helping students get acquainted with their lecturers. His address skillfully blended insightful guidance with practical reflections, from scientific research and extracurricular involvement to part-time work experiences, offering valuable advice on balancing study and personal growth.

The program continued with inspiring sharing sessions from the FBF Alpha Student Union, the Securities Investment Club (SIC) and the Future Bankers Network (FBN), all professionally supported by the Faculty. Their heartfelt messages opened opportunities for freshmen to connect, build relationships, hone skills, and find communities for holistic development. Corporate guests, industry experts, and alumni shared insights on career opportunities in finance and banking, effective student life planning, and strategies for building strong professional networks. A roundtable discussion focused on essential topics including academic study, research, extracurricular engagement, networking skills, and mental well-being — offering practical value for new students.

As the program concluded, the Faculty believes that “Fresher Unite 2025” offered memorable first experiences and meaningful orientation for the K64 cohort. In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vũ Thị Hiền emphasized that the workshop aimed to gather expert feedback for developing the new Fintech and Sustainable Finance training program — a long-term strategic direction for FTU. She highlighted that Fintech and Sustainable Finance integrate finance with technology, leveraging FTU’s traditional strengths while expanding into technical domains, marking an important interdisciplinary step. The University expressed its expectation that the workshop would gather valuable insights to refine objectives, learning outcomes, and competitive advantages before official implementation in 2026.

During the workshop, Dr. Nguyễn Thu Thủy presented the Proposal for Introducing the Fintech Major and the Bachelor in Fintech and Sustainable Finance, outlining program goals, expected learning outcomes, structure, content, and teaching approaches. The presentation was followed by expert talks delivered by Dr. Phạm Tiến Dũng (Head of AI, Var-Meta), Mr. Nguyễn Đức Nghĩa (Head of Professional Education, ICAEW Southeast Asia), and Ms. Phạm Minh Hương (Director, Sustainability Services, Deloitte Vietnam), who shared perspectives on industry development and program relevance.

A panel discussion ensued, providing an opportunity for the Faculty to collect valuable suggestions supporting curriculum refinement. The discussion was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Việt Dũng, Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Trần Trung Dũng, Vice Dean.

The session was active and productive, featuring extensive input and reflections from senior corporate executives, educational specialists, and experts in finance and technology. Curriculum specialists affirmed that the program aligns with core knowledge areas in Fintech and identifies appropriate specialization pathways based on market needs. Participants expressed confidence that the program would capitalize on FTU’s strengths, attract high-caliber applicants, and produce quality graduates suited to labor market demands.

In his closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Việt Dũng expressed sincere gratitude to speakers and guests for contributing their time, expertise, and valuable feedback, which will support the Faculty in completing the curriculum. During the cordial meeting, faculty representatives and staff from the Office of Communications and External Relations, along with the editorial board of JIEM, shared reflections on the development journey and notable achievements in promoting the university’s image and academic contributions. The Office of Communications and External Relations plays a pivotal role in connecting the university with students, parents, businesses, and the broader society, while also serving as a key force in disseminating FTU’s core values and identity.

Meanwhile, the Journal of International Economics and Management has significantly enhanced the university’s research profile. With a professional editorial team, a rigorous peer-review process, and a clear academic focus, JIEM has become a reputable academic platform, encouraging high-impact research that contributes to economic and social development in a global integration context.

• Professor Filip Borysewicz from Sopot University of Applied Sciences (Poland) delivered a lecture on Capital Budgeting.
